BELITUNG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its corporate governance by improving compliance and standardization among mining service companies that serve as its business partners. This commitment was demonstrated through a Technical Guidance Program on the Implementation Guidelines for the Standardization of Mining Service Businesses, held at Grand Hatika Hotel, Tanjung Pandan, Belitung, on Thursday (July 2, 2026).
The program was attended by dozens of directors of mining service companies, mining business partners, and Operational Responsible Persons (PJOs) working within PT TIMAH’s Mining Business License (IUP) areas. The session featured Sari Taqwiem Ashra, Sub-Coordinator for Mineral and Coal Mining Service Businesses at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), as the keynote speaker.
The technical guidance formed part of the company’s commitment to strengthening mining operational governance through the implementation of Good Mining Practices, improving regulatory compliance, and reinforcing occupational safety and environmental protection.
PT TIMAH Director of Operations, Handy Geniardi, stated that strengthening corporate governance cannot be separated from the compliance of all business partners with applicable standards and regulations.
According to him, the program focused on five key areas: improving compliance with regulations and Good Mining Practices, strengthening productive business partnerships, enhancing understanding of mining service companies’ obligations, implementing standardization and technical evaluations in the field, and improving participants’ competencies as agents of change.
"These five aspects serve as the foundation for building better mining governance, ensuring that every operational activity is carried out in compliance with regulations, safely, and in a way that creates added value for both the company and its business partners," Handy said.
He emphasized that the company's productivity must go hand in hand with the implementation of occupational safety standards, legal compliance, and environmental protection.
According to Handy, strong collaboration between PT TIMAH and its business partners is one of the key factors in realizing a globally competitive tin mining company.
"Let us make PT TIMAH a world-class tin mining company that excels not only in business performance but also in good corporate governance, upholds occupational safety, and remains committed to environmental sustainability. Effective collaboration is the key, regulations serve as our guideline, and commitment is the foundation of every mining activity," he said.
Meanwhile, Sari Taqwiem Ashra, Sub-Coordinator for Mineral and Coal Mining Service Businesses at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), appreciated PT TIMAH’s proactive efforts in providing guidance to mining service companies.
According to her, some business partners still do not fully understand the various regulations and obligations that must be fulfilled in conducting mining activities.
"This program is very important to ensure that mining service companies understand all government regulations as well as PT TIMAH’s internal policies. Compliance with regulations is an essential element of good mining governance," she said.
Sari added that, in addition to complying with government regulations, mining service companies must also consistently implement all of PT TIMAH’s internal policies, including timely reporting of operational activities to enable more effective supervision.
She expressed hope that similar capacity-building programs would continue to be conducted regularly, considering PT TIMAH’s extensive operational areas covering the Bangka Belitung Islands and the Riau Islands.
As the holder of the Mining Business License (IUP), she added, PT TIMAH has the responsibility to provide guidance and supervision to all mining service companies operating within its concession areas.
"Mining is a high-risk industry. Therefore, strong collaboration between the IUP holder and mining service companies is essential to ensure the effective implementation of Good Mining Practices. With stronger governance, achieving the company’s production targets and its zero-fatality objective will become more attainable," she concluded. (*)
