WEST KUNDUR -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to play an active role in supporting social, religious, and cultural activities within communities across its operational areas.
Most recently, PT TIMAH supported a series of events, including communal prayers, a torch parade, and a mass Quran completion ceremony (Khataman Al-Quran), held to commemorate the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1448 Hijri. The events took place at Al Inayah Mosque, located in the PT TIMAH Division Area Kundur Complex in Gemuruh Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, on June 15–16, 2026.
The celebrations, attended by local residents, religious leaders, youth, and children, were conducted in a festive yet solemn atmosphere. The Islamic New Year commemoration began with communal prayers, followed by a torch parade around the village area as a form of Islamic outreach and a way of preserving a long-standing community tradition in welcoming the Hijri New Year.
The torch parade and Quran completion ceremony are among the traditions regularly organized by the community to celebrate the Islamic New Year.
PT TIMAH’s support for these activities reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening the social and religious life of local communities while helping preserve traditions that have long been an integral part of community life.
Syawaludin, Chairman of the Al Inayah Mosque Management Board (DKM), expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support, which made the annual event possible.
“We would like to thank PT TIMAH for its support, which has enabled us to hold this event. We organize this annual celebration of the Islamic New Year with various activities each year,” he said.
According to him, the event also serves to motivate children to learn and recite the Quran so that they can participate in the collective Quran completion ceremony each year.
"The commemoration of the Islamic New Year should be filled with positive activities that strengthen bonds of friendship and unity among fellow Muslims,” he added.
Al Inayah Mosque has long served as a center for various religious activities within the community and frequently collaborates with PT TIMAH in organizing Islamic programs. The company has also supported educational and religious development initiatives conducted at the mosque on numerous occasions.
Through its support for religious and cultural activities such as these, PT TIMAH hopes to continue being present alongside the community in preserving religious values, strengthening social cohesion, and safeguarding traditions that form an important part of the local identity and wisdom of communities within its operational areas.
