BANGKA -- PT TIMAH Tbk’s Scholarship Class Program has once again opened opportunities for high-achieving students to pursue quality education free of charge. The program, which has been running since 2000, continues to be one of the most sought-after educational pathways for outstanding students in the company’s operational areas.
The PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program was established to provide equal access to education for students from diverse economic backgrounds. Through this initiative, full scholarships are awarded to outstanding students from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Karimun Regency in the Riau Islands Province, and the Meranti Islands Regency in Riau Province.
Over more than two decades, the program has produced hundreds of alumni who have gone on to build successful careers in various professions. As of 2025, a total of 922 alumni had completed their education through the program and are now working as teachers, doctors, lecturers, police officers, and employees in both state-owned and private companies. In 2025, 107 students were living in dormitories and studying at SMA Negeri 1 Pemali in Bangka Regency.
In 2026, PT TIMAH continues the program, with 36 students successfully passing the selection process after completing a series of assessments.
One of the applicants, Juli Alpiano, a student from SMP Negeri 3 Pangkalpinang, successfully advanced through multiple stages of the selection process, including administrative screening, an academic aptitude test, psychological testing, interviews, and a medical examination.
According to Juli, his motivation for joining the Scholarship Class Program was to help ease his parents’ financial burden while gaining the opportunity to study at a top-performing school without the high costs of education.
“I was interested in joining this program because I want to help reduce my parents’ financial burden while still being able to attend a good school without having to pay expensive educational fees,” he said.
He also believes that the entire selection process was conducted transparently and objectively. In his view, the students who reached the medical examination stage are among the best candidates, having demonstrated their abilities and qualities throughout the selection process.
“I think the selection process was conducted very well. The students who made it this far are truly qualified participants,” he added.
Juli hopes to earn the opportunity to receive free education and become one of the students selected for the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program at SMA Negeri 1 Pemali. (*)
