BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk held the handover ceremony for 36 students selected for the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program at SMAN 1 Pemali for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The event took place at the Cassiterite Building, Pemali Learning Center of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, Bangka Regency, on Thursday (July 2, 2026).
The ceremony marked the beginning of the students’ educational journey after successfully passing the selection process. They will pursue their studies at SMAN 1 Pemali while residing at the PT TIMAH Pemali Boarding School Dormitory.
The event was attended by PT TIMAH Division Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Rahmat Taufik, Head of the Information and Communication Technology Center of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Education Office Sukinda, Principal of SMAN 1 Pemali Eflina, the selected scholarship recipients, and their parents.
The handover ceremony was conducted in a solemn atmosphere and featured the symbolic presentation of school supplies from PT TIMAH to the students, accompanied by their parents.
This year, a total of 194 students from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and the Riau Islands Province applied for the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program. After undergoing administrative screening, home visits, academic aptitude tests, psychological assessments, clinical psychology evaluations, document verification, and medical examinations, only 36 students were selected.
Head of the Information and Communication Technology Center of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Education Office, Sukinda, expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s continued commitment to supporting education through the Scholarship Class Program.
He stated that the program provides opportunities for high-achieving and highly motivated students from economically disadvantaged families to receive quality education.
“We appreciate PT TIMAH for its consistent commitment to improving the quality of human resources through educational programs. This is an excellent example of collaboration between the private sector and the government in developing an outstanding generation,” he said.
Sukinda encouraged the selected students to make the most of this opportunity by excelling in both academic and non-academic fields.
“Do not waste this opportunity. Show your gratitude and sense of responsibility by studying diligently and achieving accomplishments you can be proud of. The educational facilities and boarding accommodations provided should motivate you to continue growing and developing,” he said.
He also called on parents and teachers to continue working together in supporting the students throughout their educational journey so they can grow into intelligent, well-rounded individuals who are prepared to face future challenges.
PT TIMAH Department Head of Corporate Communication Anggi Siahaan stated that the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program is part of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) initiatives aimed at improving the quality of human resources in communities surrounding the company’s mining operations.
“Through the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program, students will pursue their education at SMAN 1 Pemali while participating in various development programs designed to strengthen both their hard skills and soft skills to support their overall competency development,” he said.
The program provides a full scholarship, including boarding accommodation and all educational expenses for the selected students. Through this initiative, PT TIMAH hopes that scholarship recipients will be able to focus on achieving outstanding accomplishments in both academic and non-academic fields.
One of the scholarship recipients, M. Afiq Arsyad from SMP 3 Rangsang in the Meranti Islands Regency, said the program offers him a pathway toward achieving his dream of becoming a teacher and developing his full potential.
“I was motivated to apply for this scholarship program because I want to develop my potential and abilities, receive a quality education, and help my parents, who face financial limitations. I would like to thank PT TIMAH for providing this opportunity,” he said.
