EAST BELITUNG -- As part of its commitment to designing targeted and sustainable community development and empowerment programs, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to update its Community Development and Empowerment Master Plan (RIPPM) in East Belitung Regency.
The FGD brought together various stakeholders, including the Regional Secretary, heads of regional government agencies (OPDs), sub-district heads, and village heads from across East Belitung Regency. The event was held at the Zahari MZ Auditorium, East Belitung Regency Government Office Complex, on Wednesday (July 1, 2026).
The discussion served as a platform to gather input and aspirations from the local government and other stakeholders in order to develop an RIPPM document that is more responsive to community needs and aligned with the region's development priorities.
East Belitung Regional Secretary Erna Kunondo expressed her appreciation for PT TIMAH's initiative in organizing the public consultation forum as part of the RIPPM preparation process.
"We would like to express our highest appreciation to PT TIMAH for initiating and organizing this public consultation forum. This forum serves as a platform to strengthen communication, gather public aspirations, and develop an RIPPM document that is more responsive to the needs of the people of East Belitung and aligned with the region's development direction," Erna said.
According to her, PT TIMAH's presence as part of East Belitung's economic activities is expected not only to contribute through investment and job creation but also to deliver tangible benefits through sustainable community development and empowerment programs.
She added that updating the RIPPM is a strategic step to ensure that the company's social responsibility programs are designed based on the community's actual needs, regional potential, and the development priorities of East Belitung Regency.
"The East Belitung Regency Government remains committed to building strong collaboration with all stakeholders, including PT TIMAH," she continued.
Erna expressed hope that the public consultation forum would produce constructive recommendations that would serve as the foundation for more effective, sustainable, and impactful community empowerment programs.
"This forum provides an opportunity for participants to share ideas openly and constructively. I hope everyone will actively contribute their perspectives, experiences, and recommendations, which will enrich the RIPPM document and ensure it becomes a practical guideline capable of addressing future development challenges," she said.
She also hopes that future community empowerment programs will further support improvements in human resource development, strengthen the local economy, and advance education, healthcare, and other strategic sectors.
